Our Story
As one of Toowoomba’s oldest pubs, The Royal on Ruthven has been serving top notch hospitality since the 1860s.
First opened in October 1866 by the Wockner family, it was originally known as The Spring Hill and was very popular with Toowoomba railway workers. After burning down in 1904, it was rebuilt and then reopened in April 1906. It’s much of that same pub that still stands today at 189 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba.
In 1949 the pub became The Royal and almost seventy years later, thanks to the Griffiths family, it hasn’t lost any of its charm.
The Royal on Ruthven really is a place ‘for everyone’.
